As we were driving home Saturday night after the wedding, I could not wipe the smile off of my face. The moments I get to share with my couples and the fact that my life revolves around love brings me the greatest joy. Lately I have been in a funk due to the first couple months of this year challenging my sanity, so I took some time to step back and relish in the positives things. Before I knew it there were a million things I was grateful for that turned everything else into minor annoyances. Amazing how perspective can either challenge you to be a better brighter version of yourself, or break you down in a well of misery.
The other thought that has been dancing around in my head lately is all about connection. With all of the distractions we have nowadays we often forget to slow down and connect, connect not only with ourselves, but with others. I read something the other day that made me nod and smile because it perfectly reflected my thoughts.
“Don’t make the mistake of going through life ingrown. Instead, be a dream releaser. Use your talent, your influence and your experience, not just to accomplish your goals, but to help release a dream in someone else.”
Can you imagine a world in which people lived their lives based off of this philosophy? A place where we look at others with the attitude of adding value and beauty into their lives, rather than looking to see what we can get from them or what they can do for us. If we are lucky we will have at least 70 years on this Earth, and how we choose to live within those years will dictate what mark we leave behind. It was Ann and Alap’s wedding ceremony that initially got me really thinking about this idea of legacy and connection. (Don’t worry you will be seeing their wedding soon). Their officiant had the same message of harmony and compassion as the article I read. I want to leave this world knowing that I was a dream releaser. Dreams and hope are the most precious blessings we have been given, and there is no greater reward than knowing that you did your best to help release a dream in someone else.
And since no post is complete without at least one photo…..
