The Ebell and the Bell of the Ball

First off thank you all for the kind words and wishes you have sent, it has been overwhelming how wonderful everyone has been. Things are back to normal and I am here in full force editing like a mad woman. And now let the blog luvin’ begin!!

Vintage appeal with a modern twist is how I would describe Cathy and Gregg’s wedding. Our day started at the beautiful Beverly Hilton with Cathy zipping around the room making sure everyone was happy and beautiful, if you know Cathy then you wouldn’t expect anything less than 210% energy. My jaw hit the floor when I saw her custom made gowns, they were Asian inspired meets modern elegance, just absolutely stunning!! Check out Colleen Quen her uber talented designer HERE. And as if that weren’t enough Gregg’s suit was also made by the same designer to fit Cathy’s dress. Ridiculously cool! After our engagement shoot in SF I left knowing their wedding would be timeless and amazing since they both have superb taste, and I was not wrong.

I was lucky that day to work with a bunch of really great people. The Ebell not only was a gorgeous venue for a bride with vintage taste, but the staff was so incredibly kind and helpful. Uyen with Sassy Girl Weddings was our coordinator extraordinaire that day, she pulled off the fete of turning over a room into a breathtaking reception room in an hour. My hat is off to Brian with G2 Audio and Lighting he did a spectacular job lighting both rooms, and he was super patient with us while we figured out what lighting to go with AND he even asked me if everything was lit well for my photography, it does not get more awesome than that! Word to future brides, lighting is an essential if you want to create a mood not only for your guests, but for your photos. The cake, where do I start with the cake?! It was like 6 ft tall in the shape of a pagoda….O-M-HOLY-G! I don’t think any of us knew what to expect with the cake, but it was beyond amazing. The one touch I loved that they added was a gallery of their engagement shoot, it was not an easy task of hanging those photos, but the end result was well worth it!

The one trend I am noticing is more and more couples are opting not to do the traditional things like bouquet, garter, in some cases dances, and quite truthfully it allows the guests to really enjoy the wedding. Cathy and Gregg did just that, no traditions except for cake cutting and a yummy 10 course dinner. It was a relaxed lounge feel reception and guests had plenty of time to find the couple and chat with them for a bit on their day. Thank you both for allowing my imagination run wild and for taking such good care of us, brides and grooms like you are the reason my heart overflows with love of what I do.
